36 Weeks

Dear Baby Batts,

Back in the spring, when we first found out about you, it felt as if this time - the last weeks before you join us - would never come. But here we are, 36 weeks pregnant, and looking forward to meeting you in the next month or so!

Side Bump.

Front Bump.

Your growth has slowed, since you are already so big and have such a small space to squeeze through soon. And your organs and body processes are just about ready to go, except for digestion. Since you've been receiving all your nutrients through the umbilical cord, you'll need to practice digesting things after you're born. Luckily, we'll have lots of late night feedings so you can practice! They say your hearing is getting sharper and sharper... I hope you heard me reading from the book of Psalm and singing to you last night. I want you to grow up loving the Lord and His Word, so we're starting early!

I have a doctor's appointment today and will go every week until you come. I can't believe it! This week we get to "claim" our midwife as the one we want at our delivery. Speaking of delivery, we need to register at (and tour!!) the hospital. I remember thinking, "There's so much time still!" but guess what, Ruthie?! There's not much time left!

Your daddy and I enjoyed a nice, quiet date night last night, complete with salmon patties, popcorn, and a couple episodes of "Cutthroat Kitchen" on Netflix. I knitted while we relaxed together. It was so nice, baby girl.

Soon you'll be here with us, cuddled up in a blanket, relaxing on the couch. Hooray.

Love,
Mama
